I have been quite into bleach lately, fueled by my discovery of a whole treasure trove of good fanfic and two really, really good fic writers who write exactly the kind of fic I like in the style I like. :P I love it when fanfic makes me really relook at the manga and its inherent ideas and discover that the character relationships and themes in the manga are even more rich than I first realised them to be. and bleach is a nice world, for that, vast enough to cover most interests and specific enough to develop concentrations you really enjoy.

lisa = definitely my favourite vizard. then again I always like the more-than-competent, hot girls haha. it doesn't help she's so cool! and looks awesome swordfighting.

also have been thinking, and have concluded that if I were anyone in the bleach universe- or if I were transplanted into the bleach universe- I would turn out most like Kira. definitely, definitely Kira. for so many reasons. sure, I like yoruichi a lot, but Kira is closest to who I am- I subscribe a lot to Hisagi's philosophy of fear being an integral part of wielding a (metaphorical) sword, but just that much more to Kira's of war and despair.

then again, in terms of personality and what I would Actually Be Like if I Ended Up In The Bleach Universe, Isane. sort of not that great at fighting but useful at healing, extremely devoted to her very nurturing captain, quiet and observant, quick to apologise, good at kidou and sending messages :D

...this is SO geeky but I have something to say about the latest two (or three?) bleach anime episodes haha, the hisagi shuuhei (v findor carias) and kira izuru (v avirama redder) fights.

I swear, those two vice captains are the most mature, sensible and grounded characters in the entire bleach universe and I think they're awesome for that. I don't think they're simply emo (with the connotation of disdain) characters who sit around looking cool and are there for the sole purpose of basking in the adoration of fangirls! hisagi's philosophy is all 'you should fear your own strength and your enemy's strength; those who do not fear the sword they wield have no right to wield a sword at all'. and kira is all 'the essence of war is despair' and doesn't revel in mindless fighting and its exhilaration and adrenaline without thought for the destruction and death. they were both quite ruthless and functional in striking down their opponent at the end of the fight, too. I er totally agree with them and find this quite interesting, because they were both under captains who defected. and yet they're so strong (in character), practically unflappable, somewhat cold and functional and efficient, and realistic. makes you wonder if they were like that to start with, or whether they shaped up like that under their captains' guidance, or whether they developed this way because of the responsibilities they had to bear leading their respective division after their captains defected. hinamori turned out so incredibly differently.

anyway- I really really like them! but then again you can't have too many of this kind of character around, because you need tremendously-energetic, noisy, powerful big dreamers like ichigo and naruto to push the series forward, and incredibly emotional, wilful characters who vow to be the best and strongest they can be that support the series like sakura and orihime.

BLEACH! on a completely random note, I love the captain-vice captain pair of Hitsugaya and Matsumoto haha. I dunno I just really really like them together. I also am quite intrigued by the Gin/Matsumoto pairing. It must be quite interesting to lead a squad in Soul Society. I think I would quite like the life there.

powerssss. voice mimicry is actually pretty interesting.

India India India! India should be fun, I think. :D although I bet half my luggage will consist of notes.

blink blink KI = jackpot. it appears I redeem myself again with late but good work. I don't know how I do it you know :/ I really really don't. I sort of just...anyhow whack (okay not that trivial but you get the idea) and it turns out to be what he wants. something like how I shoot. haha oh dear. not complaining, though.

but other than that, valentine's day was pretty nice. the class secret valentine exchange turned out well, although we seemed to lack more enthusiasm than we did last year haha. the reveals were fun- ann liang really didn't think it was me, so when I crossed over to give him his present he jaw-dropped, and jaw-dropped even more when I told him what I did hahaha. you see, I gave him stuff through proxies (with FUN CLUES), so I never gave him anything directly. gave him stuff through chermaine, hong quan, acey and rayner, knowing full well he wouldn't get the HUGE HINT I was dropping- you see what the first letters of their names are doing?

I really had a great time spamming him with stuff (: and it was in no way a waste of my time.

and Ben really really really really rocks! he was my valentine-person, as in he got me stuff, and his gifts were really spot on totally not a lousy valentine at all lah! he got me exactly the kind of stuff (without even asking! awe.) that made me REALLY happy haha I was very very pleasantly surprised and :) :) this photoframe with a Bleach jigsaw puzzle assembled, and this REALLY COOL Naruto manga (in Japanese, but I get a kick out of slowly reading the hiragana and katakana and I know enough character and technique names (and kanji) to be able to figure out what they're saying, somewhat. and the PICTURES! char is a fangirl at heart haha. fangirl fangirl faaaangirl. EE. Yay for Ben :)

I watched Air. Air is the saddest, prettiest anime ever, and to say anymore about it won't be doing it justice and such. It's incredibly ironic that Kanna Nobutoshi gets to yell 'Kanna' a lot (as Ryuuya), since it's his name and all. I am halfway through episode 12 and I love Air like anything. Uh, yeah.
